For most of robotics history, a robot was a programmed machine. This approach works well in automotive manufacturing, where robots perform the same welding task millions of times in a perfectly controlled environment. It doesn’t work for food manufacturing. What’s changing robotics and its impact on the food industry is that robots can now learn new tasks on their own.
